Which one for a postcard?

I thought I'd ask you for your thoughts on this one:

With the exhibition coming closer, I'm trying to decide which scene to take for a promo postcard.

I've had a couple of cards made a while back, but I want to have one of the pieces in the exhibition to feature on the postcard and none of the previous motifs will go to the exhibition. I also want something that gives a sense of the work I've been doing recently (and that I want to do).

Here are a few examples - and I'd appreciate your thoughts and preferences on these.

A detail of one of the mixed media collages such as this one:

Sunny, cheery gouache and pastels on paper - and a definite landscape:

Another definite landscape - less cheery, a bit more recent:

Or a bit less recent again, less landscape, still mixed media, no glue and limited palette?

Well... I think I've got my favourite - which is yours?

First of all, congrats on your up coming show! I'd like to vote for my favorite one...third fromt he top. It's very soulful. But of course the decision is yours!

For me it's the very first one. I love the colours and it suggests a wild mountain top, so it's upward looking and free spirited.
Good luck with the exhibition!

my immediate reaction was the first one - but then I started thinking - you want to draw in the widest possible audience who like abstraction and semi abstraction?

So - maybe the third one?

If you will be showing a coherent group, which is (mostly) all landscapes, I would choose #3. If a mix, or all abstracts, then I favor #1.

I like seeing these four in a group! Congratulations on your exhibit.

I find the first one the most striking, and then the 3rd.

I like the top pink one and the bottom yellow ochre ones best. I think I'm drawn towards the abstract rather than the figurative at the moment. Which would best represent the exhibition in question though?

Ah... fascinating... many thanks for so many responses! my personal favourite was no 1, followed by no 3.
Now: very good points about audiences and relation to exhibition, Vivien and Casey. Hm, most of what I'll show will be semi- to abstract landscapes plus the pretty wintery, flowy oil landscapes. The whole exhibition will be a group effort with all in all 8-10 people (of wich about half will show more than one piece); mine will be the only mixed-media, collagey and abstract landscape ones. The group that is exhibiting is a very diverse - but very interestingly diverse one - that was in part why i prefer something more experimental as in no 1 (but probably also because that is the stuff that excites me most personally); but then again, no 3 will give more of a view of what my work is currently about...
I think I'll let this cook for a wee while longer, print them out on photopaper etc...
Thanks so much again to all of you!

I enjoy the versitility of your brush strokes and the emotion that you leave in each image. I like the yellow ochre limited palette piece for its composition and line quality. It feels complete.

Many thanks, Maggie! I like that one too - it started as some abstract marks to turn into something (a bit) more representational.

Congrats!! How exciting! I am partial to the very first one, the collage detail. I think it draws in the viewer and makes him/her want to know more. On the other hand, if you want to draw in every possible buyer, I'd recommend the last one. What a tough decision! And thank you for including us. Wish I could see all your work up close :)

Hi Neda and thank you!!
I think I'll give in: my fellow artists were unanimously in favour of #3 as the glorious safe bet. Hm, too bad: I would have preferred #1, I think but having printed both of them on photopaper I think the safe bet is also a nice one. :)
